Shankar Barua, our friend and partner in New Delhi, writes:

"The image seen here is Ganesa, the cherubic elephant-headed Hindu God of all Good Luck & Good Beginnings. Lord Ganesa, son of the Mother Goddess Parvati, was blessed by his father—Shiva, Lord of all Death & Destruction in the supreme Hindu Trinity of Creation, Continuance & Closure—that all Good Beginnings and Good Luck would forevermore flow from propitiating Ganesa in some way or another before any and all other Gods in worship."

We wish you a most Happy New Year, with good luck and good beginnings, with health and prosperity.
